พระราชบัญญัติ ข้อมูลข่าวสารของราชการ พ.ศ. ๒๕๔๐ ภูมิพลอดุลยเดช ป.ร. ให้ไว้ ณวันที่ ๒กันยายนพ.ศ. ๒๕๔๐ เป็นปีที่ ๕๒ในรัชกาลปัจจุบัน พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชมีพระบรมราชโองการโปรดเกล้า ฯให้ประกาศว่า โดยที่เป็นการสมควรให้มีกฎหมายว่าด้วยข้อมูลข่าวสารของราชการ จึงทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯให้ตราพระราชบัญญัติขึ้นไว้โดยคำแนะนำและยินยอม ของรัฐสภาดังต่อไปนี้
