ในระหว่างที่ยังไม่มีการแต่งตั้งผู้อำนวยการ ให้อธิบดีกรมพัฒนาสังคมและ สวัสดิการปฏิบัติหน้าที่ผู้อำนวยการไปพลางก่อน จนกว่าจะมีการแต่งตั้งผู้อำนวยการตามมาตรา ๒๙ ซึ่งต้องกระทำให้แล้วเสร็จภายในหนึ่งร้อยแปดสิบวันนับแต่วันที่พระราชบัญญัตินี้ใช้บังคับ
