อุปนายกราชบัณฑิตยสภามีอำนาจหน้าที่ ดังนี้

(๑) ปฏิบัติหน้าที่แทนนายกราชบัณฑิตยสภาตามที่นายกราชบัณฑิตยสภามอบหมาย

(๒) เป็นผู้รักษาการแทนนายกราชบัณฑิตยสภา ในกรณีที่ไม่มีผู้ดำรงตำแหน่งนายกราชบัณฑิตยสภา หรือมีแต่ไม่อาจปฏิบัติหน้าที่ได้
