Paṭhamanaḷakapānasutta
At Naḷakapāna the Buddha invites Sāriputta to teach. He speaks of ten qualities that lead to decline or non-decline.

ข้อ ๖๗สมัยหนึ่ง พระผู้มีพระภาคเสด็จจาริกไปในแคว้นโกศล พร้อมด้วยภิกษุสงฆ์หมู่ ใหญ่ ได้เสด็จถึงนิคมของชาวโกศล ชื่อว่านฬกปานะ ทราบมาว่าพระผู้มีพระภาคประทับอยู่ที่ ปลาสวัน ใกล้นฬกปานนิคมนั้น ก็สมัยนั้นแล พระผู้มีพระภาคผู้อันหมู่ภิกษุแวดล้อมประทับนั่ง แล้วในวันอุโบสถ ครั้งนั้นแล พระผู้มีพระภาคทรงชี้แจงภิกษุทั้งหลายให้เห็นแจ้ง ให้สมาทาน ให้อาจหาญ ให้ร่าเริงด้วยธรรมีกถา สิ้นส่วนแห่งราตรีเป็นอันมาก ทรงตรวจดูภิกษุสงฆ์ผู้นิ่ง เงียบอยู่แล้วตรัสกะท่านพระสารีบุตรว่า ดูกรสารีบุตร ภิกษุสงฆ์ปราศจากถีนมิทธะแล้ว ธรรมีกถาเพื่อภิกษุทั้งหลายจงแจ่มแจ้งกะเธอ เราเมื่อยหลัง จักเอนหลัง ท่านพระสารีบุตรกราบ ทูลรับพระผู้มีพระภาคแล้ว พระผู้มีพระภาครับสั่งให้ปูผ้าสังฆาฏิสี่ชั้น ทรงสำเร็จสีหไส ยาโดยพระปรัสเบื้องขวา ซ้อนเท้าเหลื่อมเท้า ทรงมีสติสัมปชัญญะ ทรงกระทำอุฏฐานสัญญา ไว้ในพระทัย
ณ ที่นั้นแล ท่านพระสารีบุตรเตือนภิกษุทั้งหลายว่า ดูกรภิกษุผู้มีอายุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุ ทั้งหลายรับคำท่านพระสารีบุตรแล้ว ท่านพระสารีบุตรกล่าวว่าดูกรอาวุโสทั้งหลาย ผู้ใดผู้หนึ่ง ไม่มีศรัทธาในกุศลธรรมทั้งหลาย ไม่มีหิริ ไม่มีโอตตัปปะ ไม่มีวิริยะ ไม่มีปัญญาในกุศลธรรม

At Naḷakapāna (1st)

Ekaṁ samayaṁ bhagavā kosalesu cārikaṁ caramāno mahatā bhikkhusaṅghena saddhiṁ yena naḷakapānaṁ nāma kosalānaṁ nigamo tadavasari.
At one time the Buddha was wandering in the land of the Kosalans together with a large Saṅgha of monks when he arrived at a town of the Kosalans named Naḷakapāna.

Tatra sudaṁ bhagavā naḷakapāne viharati palāsavane.
There the Buddha stayed near Naḷakapāna in the grove of flame-of-the-forest trees.

Tena kho pana samayena bhagavā tadahuposathe bhikkhusaṅghaparivuto nisinno hoti.
Now, at that time it was the sabbath, and the Buddha was sitting surrounded by the Saṅgha of monks.

Atha kho bhagavā bahudeva rattiṁ bhikkhūnaṁ dhammiyā kathāya sandassetvā samādapetvā samuttejetvā sampahaṁsetvā tuṇhībhūtaṁ tuṇhībhūtaṁ bhikkhusaṅghaṁ anuviloketvā āyasmantaṁ sāriputtaṁ āmantesi:
The Buddha spent much of the night educating, encouraging, firing up, and inspiring the monks with a Dhamma talk. Then he looked around the Saṅgha of monks, who were so very silent. He addressed Venerable Sāriputta:

“Vigatathinamiddho kho, sāriputta, bhikkhusaṅgho.
“Sāriputta, the Saṅgha of monks is rid of dullness and drowsiness.

Paṭibhātu taṁ, sāriputta, bhikkhūnaṁ dhammī kathā.
Give them some Dhamma talk as you feel inspired.

Piṭṭhi me āgilāyati;
My back is sore,
- 2.4
tamahaṁ āyamissāmī”ti.
I’ll stretch it.”

“Evaṁ, bhante”ti kho āyasmā sāriputto bhagavato paccassosi.
“Yes, sir,” Sāriputta replied.

Atha kho bhagavā catugguṇaṁ saṅghāṭiṁ paññāpetvā dakkhiṇena passena sīhaseyyaṁ kappesi pāde pādaṁ accādhāya sato sampajāno uṭṭhānasaññaṁ manasi karitvā.
And then the Buddha spread out his outer robe folded in four and laid down in the lion’s posture—on the right side, placing one foot on top of the other—mindful and aware, and focused on the time of getting up.
