ข้อความไทยนี้คือ พระไตรปิฎกภาษาไทย ฉบับหลวง ซึ่งแปลจากพระไตรปิฎกบาลีคนละฉบับกับบาลีที่แสดงอยู่ด้านล่าง จึงไม่ได้เรียงตรงกันบรรทัดต่อบรรทัด — อ่านเป็นสำนวนแปลอิสระอีกฉบับหนึ่ง
เล่ม ๒๒ · หน้า ๑๕๘ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลผู้ประกอบด้วยธรรม ๕ ประการ แม้ฟังสัทธรรมอยู่ ก็เป็นผู้ไม่ควรเพื่อหยั่งลงสู่นิยาม คือ ความถูกในกุศลธรรมธรรม ๕ ประการเป็นไฉน คือ บุคคลย่อมพูดมาก ๑ พูดคำพูดที่ผู้อื่นพูดแล้วมาก ๑ พูดปรารภตน ๑ เป็นผู้มีจิตฟุ้งซ่านฟัง ธรรม ๑ เป็นผู้มีจิตไม่แน่วแน่มนสิการโดยอุบายไม่แยบคาย ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลผู้ ประกอบด้วยธรรม๕ ประการนี้แล แม้ฟังสัทธรรมอยู่ก็เป็นผู้ไม่ควรเพื่อหยั่งลงสู่นิยาม คือ
ความถูกในกุศลธรรม ฯ
ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลผู้ประกอบด้วยธรรม ๕ ประการ ฟังสัทธรรมอยู่เป็นผู้ควร เพื่อหยั่งลงสู่นิยาม คือ ความถูกในกุศลธรรม ธรรม ๕ ประการเป็นไฉนคือ บุคคลย่อม ไม่พูดมาก ๑ ไม่พูดคำพูดที่ผู้อื่นพูดแล้วมาก ๑ ไม่พูดปรารภตน ๑เป็นผู้มีจิตไม่ฟุ้งซ่านฟังธรรม ๑
เป็นผู้มีจิตแน่วแน่มนสิการโดยอุบายแยบคาย ๑ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย บุคคลผู้ประกอบด้วยธรรม ๕ ประการนี้แล ฟังสัทธรรมอยู่ก็เป็นผู้ควรหยั่งลงสู่นิยาม คือ ความถูกในกุศลธรรม ฯ

The Sure Path (1st)

“Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato suṇantopi saddhammaṁ abhabbo niyāmaṁ okkamituṁ kusalesu dhammesu sammattaṁ.
“Mendicants, someone with five qualities is unable to step into the sure path with regard to skillful qualities even when listening to the true teaching.

Katamehi pañcahi?
What five?
- 1.3
Kathaṁ paribhoti, kathikaṁ paribhoti, attānaṁ paribhoti, vikkhittacitto dhammaṁ suṇāti, anekaggacitto ayoniso ca manasi karoti.
They disparage the talk, the speaker, or themselves. They listen with scattered and disunified mind. They apply the mind irrationally.

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato suṇantopi saddhammaṁ abhabbo niyāmaṁ okkamituṁ kusalesu dhammesu sammattaṁ.
Someone with these five qualities is unable to step into the sure path with regard to skillful qualities, even when listening to the true teaching.

Na kathaṁ paribhoti, na kathikaṁ paribhoti, na attānaṁ paribhoti, avikkhittacitto dhammaṁ suṇāti, ekaggacitto yoniso ca manasi karoti.
They don’t disparage the talk, the speaker, or themselves. They listen with unscattered and unified mind. They apply the mind rationally.

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato suṇanto saddhammaṁ bhabbo niyāmaṁ okkamituṁ kusalesu dhammesu sammattan”ti.
