เล่ม ๒๓ · หน้า ๓๗๒ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย กามคุณ ๕ ประการนี้ ๕ ประการเป็นไฉน คือ รูปที่จะ พึงรู้แจ้งด้วยจักษุ อันน่าปรารถนา น่าใคร่ น่าพอใจ เป็นที่รักยั่วยวน ชวนให้กำหนัด เสียง ที่จะพึงรู้แจ้งด้วยหู ฯลฯ กลิ่นที่จะพึงรู้แจ้งด้วยจมูก ฯลฯ รสที่จะพึงรู้แจ้งด้วยลิ้น ฯลฯ โผฏฐัพพะ ที่จะพึงรู้แจ้งด้วยกาย อันน่าปรารถนา น่าใคร่ น่าพอใจ เป็นที่รัก ยั่วยวน ชวนให้กำหนัด ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลายกามคุณ ๕ ประการนี้แล ฯลฯ

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เธอทั้งหลายพึงเจริญสติปัฏฐาน ๔ นี้ เพื่อละกามคุณ ๕ ประการนี้แล ฯ

    “Mendicants, there are these five kinds of sensual stimulation.

    Cakkhuviññeyyā rūpā iṭṭhā kantā manāpā piyarūpā kāmūpasaṁhitā rajanīyā,

    Sights known by the eye, which are likable, desirable, agreeable, pleasant, sensual, and arousing.

    Ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca kāmaguṇā.

    These are the five kinds of sensual stimulation.

    Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, pañcannaṁ kāmaguṇānaṁ pahānāya …pe… ime cattāro satipaṭṭhānā bhāvetabbā”ti.

    To give up these five kinds of sensual stimulation you should develop the four kinds of mindfulness meditation. …”
