    Nandaka (1st)

    “Yathāpi bhaddo ājañño,

    Though a fine thoroughbred may stumble,

  6. 1.2

    khalitvā patitiṭṭhati;

    it soon stands firm again.

  7. 1.3

    Bhiyyo laddhāna saṁvegaṁ,

    It gains even more urgency,

  8. 1.4

    adīno vahate dhuraṁ.

    and draws its load undeterred.

  9. 2.1

    Evaṁ dassanasampannaṁ,

    Even so is one accomplished in vision,

  10. 2.2

    sammāsambuddhasāvakaṁ;

    a disciple of the Buddha.

  11. 2.3

    Ājānīyaṁ maṁ dhāretha,

    Remember me as a thoroughbred,

  12. 2.4

    puttaṁ buddhassa orasan”ti.

    the Buddha’s bosom son.
