อธิการบดีมีวาระการดำรงตำแหน่งคราวละสี่ปี และจะทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ แต่งตั้งใหม่อีกได้ แต่จะดำรงตำแหน่งติดต่อกันเกินสองวาระมิได้ เมื่ออธิการบดีพ้นจากตำแหน่ง ให้รองอธิการบดีและผู้ช่วยอธิการบดีพ้นจากตำแหน่งด้วย
