ไม่มีความหวงแหน ๑ มีอายุแน่นอน ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย มนุษย์ชาวอุตรกุรุทวีปประเสริฐกว่า พวกเทวดาชั้นดาวดึงส์ และพวกมนุษย์ชาวชมพูทวีปด้วยฐานะ ๓ ประการนี้แล ฯ

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เทวดาชั้นดาวดึงส์ ประเสริฐกว่าพวกมนุษย์ชาวอุตรกุรุทวีปและ พวกมนุษย์ชาวชมพูทวีป ด้วยฐานะ ๓ ประการ ๓ ประการเป็นไฉน คือ อายุทิพย์ ๑ วรรณะทิพย์ ๑ สุขทิพย์ ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย เทวดาชั้นดาวดึงส์ ประเสริฐกว่าพวกมนุษย์ ชาวอุตรกุรุทวีปและพวกมนุษย์ชาวชมพูทวีปด้วยฐานะ ๓ ประการนี้แล ฯ

ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย มนุษย์ชาวชมพูทวีป ประเสริฐกว่าพวกมนุษย์ชาวอุตรกุรุทวีปและ เทวดาชั้นดาวดึงส์ ด้วยฐานะ ๓ ประการ ๓ ประการเป็นไฉนคือเป็นผู้กล้า ๑ เป็นผู้มีสติ ๑ เป็นผู้อยู่ประพฤติพรหมจรรย์อันเยี่ยม ๑ ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย มนุษย์ชาวชมพูทวีปประเสริฐกว่า พวกมนุษย์ชาวอุตรกุรุทวีปและพวกเทวดาชั้นดาวดึงส์ ด้วยฐานะ ๓ ประการนี้แล ฯ

    “The humans of the land north of Kuru surpass the gods of the thirty-three and the humans of the Black Plum Tree Land in three particulars.

    Amamā, apariggahā, niyatāyukā, visesaguṇā—

    They’re selfless and not possessive. They have a fixed lifespan. They have a distinctive nature.
