๕ ประการนี้แล เหมือนถูกนำมาเก็บไว้ในนรก ฯ
ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุเจ้าอาวาสประกอบด้วยธรรม ๕ ประการ เหมือนถูกเชิญมาไว้ ในสวรรค์ ๕ ประการเป็นไฉน คือ ไม่เป็นผู้ตระหนี่อาวาส ๑ ไม่ตระหนี่สกุล ๑ ไม่ตระหนี่ ลาภ ๑ ไม่ตระหนี่วรรณะ ๑ ไม่ตระหนี่ธรรม ๑ดูกรภิกษุทั้งหลาย ภิกษุเจ้าอาวาสประกอบด้วย ธรรม ๕ ประการนี้แล เหมือนถูกเชิญมาอยู่ในสวรรค์ ฯ

“Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato āvāsiko bhikkhu yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye.
“Mendicants, a resident mendicant with five qualities is placed in hell as if delivered there.

What five?

Āvāsamaccharī hoti;
They’re stingy regarding monasteries,

kulamaccharī hoti;
families,
- 1.5
lābhamaccharī hoti;
material things,
- 1.6
vaṇṇamaccharī hoti;
praise,
- 1.7
dhammamaccharī hoti.
and the teachings.

Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato āvāsiko bhikkhu yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye.
A resident mendicant with these five qualities is placed in hell as if delivered there.
