Jīvakapañhavatthu
- 1
Gataddhino visokassa,
At journey’s end, rid of sorrow;
- 2
vippamuttassa sabbadhi;
everywhere free,
- 3
Sabbaganthappahīnassa,
all ties given up,
- 4
pariḷāho na vijjati.
no fever is found in them.
Mahākassapattheravatthu
- 1
Uyyuñjanti satīmanto,
The mindful apply themselves;
- 2
na nikete ramanti te;
they delight in no abode.

Haṁsāva pallalaṁ hitvā,
Like a swan gone from the marsh,
- 4
okamokaṁ jahanti te.
they leave home after home behind.
Belaṭṭhasīsattheravatthu
- 1
Yesaṁ sannicayo natthi,
Those with nothing stored up,
- 2
ye pariññātabhojanā;
who have understood their food,
- 3
Suññato animitto ca,
whose domain is the liberation
- 4
vimokkho yesaṁ gocaro;
of the signless and the empty:
- 5
Ākāseva sakuntānaṁ,
their path is hard to trace,
- 6
gati tesaṁ durannayā.
like birds in the sky.
Anuruddhattheravatthu
- 1
Yassāsavā parikkhīṇā,
One whose defilements have ended;
- 2
āhāre ca anissito;
who’s not attached to food;
- 3
Suññato animitto ca,
whose domain is the liberation
- 4
vimokkho yassa gocaro;
of the signless and the empty:
- 5
Ākāseva sakuntānaṁ,
their track is hard to trace,
- 6
padaṁ tassa durannayaṁ.
like birds in the sky.
Mahākaccāyanattheravatthu
- 1
Yassindriyāni samathaṅgatāni,
Whose faculties have become serene,
- 2
Assā yathā sārathinā sudantā;
like horses tamed by a charioteer,
- 3
Pahīnamānassa anāsavassa,
who has abandoned conceit and defilements;
- 4
Devāpi tassa pihayanti tādino.
the unaffected one is envied by even the gods.
Sāriputtattheravatthu
- 1
Pathavisamo no virujjhati,
Undisturbed like the earth,
- 2
Indakhilupamo tādi subbato;
true to their vows, steady as Indra’s pillar,
- 3
Rahadova apetakaddamo,
like a lake clear of mud;
- 4
Saṁsārā na bhavanti tādino.
such a one does not transmigrate.
Kosambivāsitissattherasāmaṇeravatthu
- 1
Santaṁ tassa manaṁ hoti,
Their mind is peaceful,
- 2
santā vācā ca kamma ca;
peaceful are their speech and deeds.

Sammadaññāvimuttassa,
Such a one is at peace,
- 4
upasantassa tādino.
rightly freed through enlightenment.
Sāriputtattheravatthu
- 1
Assaddho akataññū ca,
Lacking faith, a house-breaker,
- 2
sandhicchedo ca yo naro;
one who acknowledges nothing,
- 3
Hatāvakāso vantāso,
purged of hope, they’ve wasted their chance:
- 4
sa ve uttamaporiso.
that is indeed the supreme person!
Khadiravaniyarevatattheravatthu
- 1
Gāme vā yadi vāraññe,
Whether in village or wilderness,
- 2
Ninne vā yadi vā thale;
in a valley or the uplands,
- 3
Yattha arahanto viharanti,
wherever the perfected ones live
- 4
Taṁ bhūmirāmaṇeyyakaṁ.
is a delightful place.
Aññataraitthivatthu
- 1
Ramaṇīyāni araññāni,
Delightful are the wildernesses
- 2
yattha na ramatī jano;
where no people delight.
- 3
Vītarāgā ramissanti,
Those free of greed will delight there,
- 4
na te kāmagavesino.
not those who seek sensual pleasures.
- 5
Arahantavaggo sattamo.
