    “Rudaṁ manuññaṁ rucirā ca piṭṭhi,

    Your cry is sweet, your back brilliant,

  6. 1.2

    Veḷuriyavaṇṇūpanibhā ca gīvā;

    your neck the color of sapphire,

  7. 1.3

    Byāmamattāni ca pekhuṇāni,

    and your feathers a full fathom long;

  8. 1.4

    Naccena te dhītaraṁ no dadāmī”ti.

    still, because of your dancing, I will not give you my daughter.
